3 Ways to do your part for the BC Fires
3 Ways to do your part for the BC fires
The fires raging across our fair province affect us all as citizens; not only in poor air quality in the valley, but in lost resources and wildlife. It’s a huge problem right now and many of us want to know what we can do to help. Here are 3 easy ways to lend a hand and do your part: with any luck we can stop all the forest fires for the rest of the summer.
1. Restrict the water use in your household by taking fewer and shorter showers, washing clothes less often, and following the restrictions outlined by your municipality. To familiarize yourself with current water restrictions, check out this website: http://www.cknw.com/2015/07/06/drex-live-w/
2. Donate to the BC Red Cross to help families and individuals who have been displaced here: http://www.redcross.ca/donate/your-donation-in-action/past-appeals/domestic/2003/bc-forest-fires-response
Every little bit counts when you’re helping people get back on their feet!
3. Prevent wildfires by following the province-wide fire ban in residential areas as well as parks. If you see a wildfire, please report it here: http://engage.gov.bc.ca/bcwildfire/
