Message from FVEPA President & Board on COVID-19

Posted March 16, 2020

Dear FVEPA Friends and Partners,

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been felt across our region in such a big way and has greatly affected our businesses, friends and colleagues. With our government putting a ban on the majority of events and others being cancelled or postponed as a pre-caution, our deepest sympathy goes out to all those that have been impacted.

The Fraser Valley Event Planning Associationโ€™s goals are to provide networking opportunities, career information and industry education to event professionals in the Fraser Valley. We plan to stay true to our goals over the coming weeks and remain focused on opportunities to provide education and stay connected, even if this means virtually. We will strive to be a resource and sounding board for our members who are likely facing some of the most challenging times in their careers.

We are not alone and are grateful for our industry association partners, MPI BC Chapter, ILEA Vancouver, PCMA Canada West. We have come together to send a message of support, grace and understanding but to also encourage patience, kindness and collaboration. Both PCMA and MPI have launched pages dedicated to providing industry professionals with updates and resources related to COVID-19.

PCMA: https://www.pcma.org/coronavirus-business-events-professionals-need-to-know-faq/#moreresources

MPI: https://www.mpi.org/tools/coronavirus

Along with the many Federal and Provincial government resource pages that weโ€™ve all been following, Fraser Health Authority has information available to us at: https://www.fraserhealth.ca/health-topics-a-to-z/coronavirus#.XmvkbnJKiUk

If your able to meet by virtual means, there are plenty of great platforms that can help with this including Zoom, Skype and GoToMeeting to name a few.

As FVEPA has done for the past 12 years, we will continue to forge ahead doing our best to show leadership and inspire positivity. We will come out of this together, stronger than before. In the words of our past president, Sherryl Parsons “Even in the Darkness of Uncertainty, the Future can Be Bright”.

Please remember we are here for you. Please donโ€™t hesitate to contact either myself or any of the Fraser Valley Event Planning Associationโ€™s board members.

Stephen Melville

President

Fraser Valley Event Planning Association (FVEPA)
