Top 3 Trends for Weddings this year

Wedding season is upon us, and that means busy season for many of us in the Fraser Valley Event Planning Association!  Here are some of the top three trends we’re looking at this year, and the members in FVEPA who can help make your wedding perfectly pinteresting!

1)      Greenery

Many brides are going greener than ever this year, with everything from varietal leaves in vases on the table to pergolas heavy laden with vines set above long dinner tables.  The effect is that of an English garden, and the green really makes guests feel at ease as well as enchanted

2)      70s Music

Gone are the first dances to Etta James “At Last” and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”.  Replacing these old favourites are newer old songs with a little bit more of a funky beat, like Barry White’s “My Everything”, Al Greene’s “Let’s stay together” and the demure Olivia Newton John’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You”.  Couples are looking for music that expresses who they are together all the time (not just on their wedding day), and these fun, soulful songs seem to fit the bill!

3)      Food Trucks

Gaining momentum everywhere, food trucks are showing up at weddings to fill a need for guests and to inject fun and colour into the event.  Food trucks also add some cool to a wedding, because let’s face it: it doesn’t get cooler than eating a street taco in formal wear 😉
